Delonghi Dolce Gusto Coffee Maker

I'm not sure if this is the correct place to ask this question, but here goes :::

I have a DeLonghi Dolce Gusto coffee maker, EDG 420.B

I have had it for a while but I am now having problems. When you press the button to start it, the button should go to red and stay red, until it changes to green, when it is ready. But the red light flashes once or twice and then goes off. It will work once in a while but only every once in about 20 tries.

Does anyone know what the problem might be, or another website that might help.

Thanks craft. I tried your link but they want £23 to give an answer !

I have done some more research and it looks like a circuit board is at fault. I have had the thing for over 2 years, so I don't think it is worthwhile to repair it. It has looked good on my counter top all that time but my £5.00 cafetiere from Tesco make better coffee, for a fraction of the price. Also the refills from Nescafe cost a fortune ! It was a present and it wasn't something I would have dreamed of paying £100 for.

I'm guessing you no longer have the handbook as that often has a trouble shooting guide, you might be able to download one though.

Have you ever descaled the machine? I'm not familiar with you coffee maker but I know mine can get a bit grumpy if it hasn't been descaled.

I'm sorry that I cannot reply to your question.However you could forget the machine and if you want to make real coffee from ground beans then just brew it as you would a pot of tea.

Pour boiling water onto the ground coffee in a suitable pot/jug and pass a cold spoon over the top of the liquid to assist all grains passing to the bottom of the receptacle. Leave a short time to steep and pour through a fine tea/coffee strainer.

Thanks vivandorron... that's exactly what my cafetiere does !
And it doesn't take anything like as much space as this bloody DeLonghi thing !
