This is just a silly theoretical question....
But saying its exactly Earth like and we are going to colonise it(yes we can make it but no fuel on board to get back)
And we can take say....a few 1000 people. What else would we need to bring to get started on a new planet? I'm assuming there will be edible stuff there so what technology, infrastructure would we bring o board to give us the best start possible?(i know theres a lot of ifs and buts, but just use your imaginantion giant spaceship, 1 way trip, what do we need?)

Bazile & Naomi24. May I point out my first answer which was, as I thought, a useful reply.
"We could manage without them but, a few knives and axes would give us a head start. The survival training would be the main thing. You'd have plenty of time on the ship to learn this.
Old crafts like bowmaker, fletcher, thatcher, wheelwright, potter etc, etc. would be some of the most valuable skills.
Unless, of course, you want to make another 21st century Earth. "

Sigh....I kinda despair at this site nowadays. yes it is a silly question but I hoped it would stir at least some debate on what would be most important for us to take with us to start afresh. Thank you to all who at least offered a sensible answer and to the rest....Have you not got anything better to do with your sad pathetic lives except troll other peoples posts?
With the Science & Technology the Scientists have today, they would be in a position to know what the climate is like out there, from this information they would know if the planet has water, & if so can it be used to survive, this is one area that survival can be achieved, regards the return, I do not think that would happen until a return can be met.
