Don't just answer "I am on the computer".
I am procrastinating, knowing I should be doing other things like polishing the pedestals and top of a massive mahogany table that has been stored in a shed all the year and needs a good polish. It us the only one that will seat ten.
First I filled up th bird feeders (another bit of putting off).

I completely agree Fred! I remember my early days when I spent Christmas Eve at some godforsaken Mags Court locked in a cell with an illegal immigrant and a rapist. Had Christmas and Boxing Day off and then was back to more of the same. These days it's far more civilised. Chin chin!

Yes, and be thankful you don't do matrimonial (sorry "family") Barmaid. They'll have you in court or before a judge on all days. You do get some in other fields, but not nearly as much. A colleague had to go to a High Court judge at the judge's home in the country on Christmas Day once. He said that the judge enjoyed the diversion and the two of them sat around drinking while the supposed emergency was dealt with.

I love it. The solicitor can't raise anybody on the other side except the Senior Partner. Isn't that always the way? All the workers clear off, but the bloke who is in charge of, or owns, the whole business is always there.True at every level and in every activity: I once phoned the Kenya High Commission , which then included their travel and holiday advice section, expecting to get some answerphone. A man answered and gave helpful advice about places there, at some length. At the end I said "I didn't expect anyone to answer" and he said "Oh, I'm the High Commissioner.Everyone else has gone home, but i heard the phone ringing in there, so I answered it"
