We were treated this afternoon to a spectacular double rainbow in the river Fal as we were eating lunch this afternoon.....as to flooding we had problems with the drive two weeks ago, washed out in part, but the water ended up in a lower field than around the house....the building is some 150 ft I guess above the nearest river - the land and the drive out there absolutely sodden and the lanes quite dangerous with the grit and detritus that has swept down.
my views on the global warming argument are fairly controversial being geologically trained, with a particular focus on glaciology......probably not for here tonight! However, in short, we still have a poor knowledge of CO2 and other gases like NOx and SOx and do not know the full impact on weather behaviour (and there have been similar periods where the polar ice has shrunk with weather extremes - such as around Magna Carta when the UK was even warmer than today), not that I am condoning belching things into the environment or stripping our resources. I do not support that.
Blimey !

(assuming the "average" alcohol intake of a vast majority of the population) Then again, a vast majority of the population consider Vodka a soft drink(!) personally, I think it's not the sea levels rising - it's the island sinking !
