Fastest 4 door standard production cars

Does anyone know the fastest (0-60mph) standard 4 door cars vailable in the uk. ( A top 5 would be helpful).

I'm going to guess :

A BMW M5 An Audi RS4 A Bentley (pick any of them) A Royle's Royce (see Bentley above) A Mercedes S600.

The fastest car I ever heard of was a kit car, a Dax Kamala, that was reported to attain 2.4 seconds for a 0-60 time. It was essentially a 3 litre cosworth engine in a 300kg carbon fibre shell, but it didn't have doors, let alone 4 of them.

The fastest ever production car in the UK was the McLaren F1 with 240.1 mph (World speed record for fastest production car, March 1998)...but as far as I can remember it was only a 3 door model not much room in the boot at the front either.....Lisa's pick seem quite good apart from the roller which would be a bit lardy to reach good 0-60 speeds.......perhaps the old Fiat arbath twin turbo model might have a look in here not much weight loads of go.

I know the BMW's 'M' series are quick the M3 's the quickest at 4.69. but the Sti Subaru is 4.6. But are there any other STANDARD production 4 doors quicker? I hope so or its my round at the boozer.

sft: yeah, the Bentley and Roll's Royce are 'lardy', but they also have incredibly powerful engines (600bhp+ I think), so it kinda compensates :-) The M3 isn't the quickest, the Z8 is, being an M5 engine in a stupid little body, but again, not a four-door. The Audi is the nicest I've seen, because it's a family estate that looks very calm and reposed, but then has a 4.5 second 0-60 time.

I'll still take any of them on my modest little Honda CBR600.......i remember seeing on Top Gear a while ago that Mercedes have a new M series and Audi beater in the pipeline but I can't find out if it's on sale in the UK yet...Sorry

the merc is a 3-door coupe. and the subaru website says that the WRX Sti does 0-62 in a sluggish 5.5. so looks like the audi might have it...not surprising as it is a freak of a car.

The fastest 0-60 in a standard four door salloon is the Audi S4. Its a sporty version of the A4. with a 4 litre V10. Not got any figures for the standing start but i have heard its the fastest.

So we're agreed then, the Audi RS4 and RS6 Avants are the fastest family cars on the planet - good for them! I can't wait to have the shopping in the back and race south london boy racers off the lights :-)

Apparently not! The audi is 0-60mph 4.7 the basic Subaru Sti is 5.5 as rja says BUT the Sti prodrive is 4.6. So I've had to pay up but thanks for trying guys. Ps another fast one is the Mitsibushi Evo at 4.9

Hi, I know its been a while, but I was searching for something similar when I stumbled upon this thread.

Theres several contenders for this one, top speed goes to the Bentley Continental Flying Spur with a Vmax of around 195mph. If it's acceleration then the fastest standard production car is the Mitsubishi Evo FQ340 which just beats the Audi RS4/6 to 60mph with a time of 4.4secs, and would surely leave the Bentley for dead in a real road situation. It's not far behind a 911 Turbo.

If you are talking about modified then if you have the cash you could make almost anything quicker than either of those!
