I noticed a number of driving instructors out with their pupils this morning. Is Sunday morning really a good time to learn to drive? If they're going to be driving in heavy traffic shouldn't they be learning in the same conditions?

Blimey Sandy, where we are, traffic can be as bad if not worse on a sunday.
It's better to start initially in a quiet location, sandy, while you get used to the process of driving.
... also, if the learners work or study, they can't always get out in the week.

I remember I was thrown in at the deep end and did my first lessons on the Lisburn Rd. But it's so busy the traffic moves at a crawl.
a lot of youngsters may have got a provisional licence for Christmas, so they may all be first timers out there!
its probably more about finding a time in the week that is suitable, if they go to work or college/uni they probably dont have a lot of time to spare for lessons
All of my lessons were either on a Saturday after work or on a Sunday... Like others have said, they were my only opportunities. If the roads are quiet they may be going to work on manouvres (sp) or just to learn the test route.
I was travelling to work the other day and there was a learner in front of me who stalled three times on the trot at the roundabout. It was about 7am and pitch black dark!
Ah, NoM - my driving instructor said to me it doesn't matter if you stall, as long as you know how to get out of it without panicking.
My instructor didn't allow lessons at that time NoM lol!
I got 4 minors when I took my test - 2 for stalling.
Reality driving, weather conditions Bad, heavy traffic, Monday Morn before 9am>>6pm, or on Friday before 9am >> 5pm when all the idiots are about, that's reality driving.
I tend to find most of the idiots are out playing at being Sunday drivers on a Sunday!!
The worst are the middle lane hoggers who suddenly think it's a good idea to move into the left lane just as you're coming off the slip road...
