Has anyone considered why wars or conflicts carry on for years millions killed in the process and nothing really resolved at the end of it.

The simple answer is those enemy combatants killed are the footsoldiers who can be replaced time and time again. Now we have weapons to kill the ringleaders and their adjutants. Alright some innocents are killed in the process but far fewer than those in a conventional war. At the same time our soldiers are away from the battlefields and saving needless lives. I don't know how you can suggest the cost of missiles against human lives but I'm sure those conflicts would have ended a lot sooner. An estimate of £20bn has been put on our involvement in Afghanistan and that would buy a hell of a lot of missiles.
jake You are against the use of drones . So what do you suggest instead ?
Rockets , bombs, Ground troops ? Or just sit back and accept the likes of 7/7 and 9/11 . We are technologically superior as you say but you don't want us to use it. So what do you want us to do.
