Al Qaeda has said it has launched missiles, in a new attack on Israel, from the Lebanon, if true, then unless the Lebanese goverment can get to grips, its a real possibility of Israel launching air strikes, or, going to the extreme, re-invading. PLO all over again, just when Lebanon was recovering from the last lot.

Wondered what other A/Bers think.

I think that I don't know what you're talking about! I've just been through the BBC's Middle East section and can find no references to the attacks you're talking about. Can you provide a link to more info?

It was in yesterdays Daily Mail, I had'nt seen it on the news, which is why I put 'if true'.
Sorry - didn't mean to come across as rude (if I did)! I just meant I couldn't find anything to read up on the subject on what I consider to be one of the most trustworthy news sources, so couldn't comment any further.

I am a little confused by the missile lauching, if this were the case I would expect it to be big news. It would be very bad news if this were found to be the case. Lebanon has enough issues managing the continued presence of Hezbollah in the south of the country without Al Qaeda joining in.

There is now a situation where relationships by the countries surrounding Israel are steadily improving and show real signs of possible long term progress, even Syria is under great pressure to cut a deal with Israel. I suspect this is what Al Qaeda fears most, it wouldn't do much for their fight if more and more muslim countries made peace with Israel. Unfortunatley for all the talking that goes on about Israel and Palestine there are still many people and a few countiries that would hate to see the situation finally resolved.

Its a very complex game these people play, but I hope above all Israel and Lebanon are able to deal with issues like these in a responsible way, differently to the past, which will demonstrate that both war and terrorism are pointless in resolving differences.

Waldo, sorry if my answer seemed a bit curt, wasn't meant to, apologies, I was tryng to post, and at the same time my daughter was pulling me, so I finished as quickly as possible.

mash, Thats another thing, the article never said when it was, and I agree entirely with your post, the article was onle a small one, but because it was in yesterdays paper, I assumed the statement, 'if true', was a recent one.
