Sorry, don't understand that at all..............have read it through several times and none the wiser. The reference to homophones is confusing which is nothing new for the setter but presumably it doesn't refer to the actual solution words, or does it. I'm afraid Gordon never make things very clear.
These could be an additional aspect as has been the case in previous years.
In the early days these puzzles used to be fun but I feel the setter has lost the plot. The instructions are now as cryptic as the clues so no wonder a lot of people are sending for the puzzle but a lot less sending it in.
Based on smouse's lead, the answer is Incarnadine, but it's the only homothingy we've identified.
