Heard the Tawny owl last night. Talking to my sister and describing the calls, I found I had heard a PAIR calling to each other, as I had the Too whit and the Too whoo hooting away, female and male. Great. I shall try to locate them from the window next time, easier now the leaves are mostly off.

Thanks Zacs-master. That is useful.
I just love the sound of the male Tawny, all sort of wobbly. Since I moved from the Yorkshire Dales I haven't heard one and I do miss them.
One night I was in bed and there was a Barn Owl sitting on the window ledge of my bedroom, screeching away. Nearly died of fright first time I heard it. Fabulous!
