You can buy a mop which has replaceable dusters on and all you do is get it out every day and run it over the wooden floor. Duster picks up the dust. Ever so easy - from one who hates cleaning. I got mine from the Kleenezee man but I am sure you could get them cheaper elsewhere. I am too idle to go looking.

There is no more dust, you just see it lol. With carpet it isn't so visible. The only solution is to mop or vac LOTS.

Starbucks point is very important. Carpets absorb dust, hard floors leave it visible. You simply lived in the dust mites faeces beforehand.

You can get those e-cloth on a stick kind of swooshers that you can swoosh round on a daily basis.

Plus, dust accumulates where air is still. Open the windows and let the wind blow free.
Woofgang is also totally right.
I agree entirely - when we took up our stair carpets, we couldn't believe the daily fluff and cat hair which suddenly became visible!
I have read that to keep it dust free you need to clean twice a day. Carpets trap the dust, so you don't see it as much. Give me carpets any day. And they keep the noise down.
