Where do you see the future of Royal Mail?Has it got one?

I see it eventually becoming a parcel delivery service, oh, and a complaints/lost parcel/pick it up yourself service as well.

RM are fighting essentially , with one hand tied behind it's back .

The regulator has allowed foregin companies to enter the market and cherry pick the profitable bits of the postal service ; without any recipricol arrangement in foreign markets .
It is the only operator in the Britain who is bound by law to deliver a universal postal service .
What company would deliver a letter for the price of a first class stamp to an address in the shetland islands ?

Historically , past governments have taken the profits that RM have made , without reinvesting back into the business .

It was in the tory manifesto before the last election to privitise RM - however that was scuppered rather , by them not winning an outright majority .

If they do win an outright majority at the next election , it's likely than not , that they will press ahead with privitisation .

If that happens , be ready for the costs to post your letter to Aunt Agatha , to increase substantially .
