Mini Rant

Just had to phone the parents of boy#1's friend to arrange for friend to come round tomorrow (don't know the friend as he is not from the village but they go to secondary school together). Rang and spoke to the dad and he said I will put you on to my wife, as he was doing so I heard him say 'it's the weirdo's mum on the phone'!!!! They have never met my son (not that he is a weirdo - he's a bit quiet, clever, never in trouble, etc). I am cross on my son's behalf and also cross that whilst they think my son is a weirdo they a happy for their son to spend time in our house!

I would say outright to the friend when he comes round "Why does your Dad think my son is a weirdo ?".

Do it while your son is out of earshot however.

The boy was lovely, brilliant manners, no trouble at all, very similar to my son. Regardless of the dad, he is welcome here any time.

Glad it went well Sherr. Now send a little card to the parents saying what a pleasure their son was and that he is welcome in your home any time. Dad will feel soooooo bad. x

sher, are you sure that's what was said? Not doubting your word, but it's easy to mishear things over the phone.....

Maybe he was calling his wife a "weirdo", maybe they had been having a bit of a barny when you rang. One of my sons will often call me a "weirdo" if we are arguing over something, usually when he is loosing the argument.
