In order to convert a CD to mp3 files, I usually just put in the CD, and a box comes up with options: Play with Windows Media/Play with Realplayer/save tracks to PC using Realplayer etc.
If I click on Save tracks, I can save them to my PC and therefore they become mp3s which I can then email.
The problem is, sometimes the box just doesn't come up when the CD is put in. Is there an easier way to convert a CD to mp3s without having to load specific software?

I have nothing on the left of my windows media player- just the weird patterns. I tried to RIP music from CD but got this message:
Windows Media Player cannot rip tracks from the CD correctly because the CD drive settings in Device Manager do not match the CD drive settings in the Player.
