Anyone know of a software system that would allow digital dictation.

I would be for field engineers to telephone (from their mobile) to my number / my computer and thereafter this would need to be converted to a digital file for typing their longish dictations.

I'm sure there is sucha thing but don't know where / how to start looking.

You could just install skype and pretty may all recorder for Skype. Then get a Skype-in number, so that they can dial your Skype from an ordinary PSTN line.

Thanks for the answer. But would your suggestion be able to format the recording into a digital file for pc that I could then type and stop start rewind etc with a footpedal?
The recording would already be a digital file as it would be recorded directly onto your pc. In the Prettymay options, you can select whether to record as a wav file or as an mp3.

Hi Rojash - thanks for that info.

I've loked online and see there is a free "basic" version but that this does not convert to mp3. Therefore I guess I'll need to purchase the professional.

I have a few questions for you please:

1) Can I purchase this in UK - (the pretty may website is USA based)
2) Am I right in thinking that Skype can be used without a landline? Therefore could the skype be set up using a mobile number?

Thanks your help very appreciated.
