Hi. I just use my normal recipe and lob it into the slow cooker instead of simmering it on the stove. It tastes much much better in the slow cooker as the mince and all the other things meld together better. Put it on low and it will sit their happily for hours. Yum!

It's really just your own favourite chilli recipe, but cook it on low for six/eight hours. I do mine the day before and then warm it through a couple of hours more. Personally, I use ground steak rather than mince as I think chilli and bolgnese are proper meals, not just chuck some cheap mince at it alternatives.

I agree with bednobs. I don`t think red meat that is finely cut is good in a slow cooker. It shrinks and becomes tough because it has been cooked for too long.

i thought it was lush done in the slow cooker, i did use lean steak mince and browned it off first, then followed normal recipe and put it in the slow cooker

thanks, everyone. it's simmering away now and smells great - i browned off the meat ans added a stock cube, worcester sauce and a bit of balsamic vinegar, and then cooked the onion in all the spices. chucked it all in together and it looks and smells so nice already.....sloopy: yep, the old farts bought me one for xmas and that pressie made me the happiest girl alive (you know i've wanted one for ages). i love gadgets and usually get ones for xmas/birthdays - over the past few years i have got: a dyson hoover, a steam cleaner, food processor, microwave etc. i'm not offended by it - i usually ask for one! x

I'd just use your usual recipe. I only ever use the slow cooker to cook chilli, bolognaise and curries these days, it tastes so much better. I cook minced beef in it a lot and I prefer the taste and texture I have never found it to be dry.
