We have just had a new extension built on the house. My cat who has always been very timid, will not come in now. We have had a cat flap put in the wall so that she can come in, but she is very reluctant. If I carry her in, she simply legs it out of the catflap! I have tried cat treats, and obviously hope she will come in when I put her food on the floor inside the extension but she just sits outside and looks at me! I have given up on a couple of occasions and put her food outside. There are double doors in the extension and she will 'sometimes' venture in if I open them, but I cannot get her to confidently come in through the catflap. Has anyone got any ideas please?
It probably smells funny - things like floor glue, tile sealant, new paint, don't smell nice to a cat. Put some of her things, her bed and toys, near the door. Feed her outside for a bit, she will get used to the new build in time, then bring the food indoors. It will work!
