A scientist yes - some might dispute the analytical brain bit :)

I had thought the prize still available, yorkie - it would appear you are right, that the prize has been discontinued.Other testers have found celebrity psychics reluctant to be tested under proper conditions though;

TV and showbiz psychics – no – their one intention is to fool people and make money. Having said that I too have experienced things I can’t explain, and I’ve spoken to ‘psychics’ who have told me things they couldn’t possibly have known. In fact one told me something very bizarre and that I was unaware of until my father confirmed it later. I’d say I’m a level headed person, I think there’s a rational explanation for everything, and I don’t believe that anything is ‘supernatural’ or ‘paranormal’. Millions of people have had these experiences, and it’s neither fair – nor rational – to consider them all to be either mistaken, lying, deluded, or potty. As for Rhandi’s Challenge, I wonder if currently these things cannot be examined under test conditions simply because we don’t possess the know-how or the appropriate technology to examine them properly. From a scientific standpoint, the double-slit experiment springs to mind.

@ Naomi - Well, the conditions that Randi and others are attempting to impose, with, I hasten to add, the full agreement of the person to be tested, is designed to remove the prospects of a false positive result due to things we do understand - Therefore, pretty much the only explanation left would be the unknown ,or the supernatural.

This should not invalidate the demonstration of the "power", supernatural or currently simply unexplained...... It just removes such results being due to chance, or through subliminal clues etc.
LG, //Therefore, pretty much the only explanation left would be the unknown //

I don't believe we should categorise the 'unknown' as 'supernatural'. There are no doubt many things that are currently 'unknown' but it doesn't follow that they always will be.

Interesting discussion - but got to dash. See you all later.
Today I have lost something...in the house I know. I have searched til I am demented...even the wheelie bin..yuk.
My psychic friend tells me that if I make a pendulum and wander about with it the spirits will show me where my lost item is.
So, I will give it a go out of sheer desperation.
I don't believe in an afterlife, when we die we just rot away, there is no 'soul' that goes on to some other place.

Psychics are scammers of the worst kind, taking money of grieving people and telling them lies is terrible.
I agree with daffy - we have this life so make the most of it. Enjoy yourself as much as you can - you won't like some of it but it's what you have got. Ashes to ashes, dust to dust is just about right. My sister was told by a psychic which she went many miles to see, because she thought she was good that she would marry in her twenties and have a son. She did neither. She married when she was 42 and too late to have a child. My daughter was disillusioned when she visited the same psychic twice and was told a different tale each time. The stupid woman didn't keep records or she would have known it was a second visit and enlarged upon the first one. Honestly, even I could do better than that!! As said many times money is the main consideration and they are battening on vulnerable people.
no one knows what happens when we die, whether we move on to an afterlife or just decompose.

wasnt psychic sally outed as a fraud about a year ago? I also think colin fry et al are nothing more than cold readers.
