I used to do a 'big shop' every month until I realised how much was wasted. Now, on payday, I get enough from the butchers to last for four weeks (usually 4 Sunday roasts big enough for leftovers, 1lb mince, stewing steak, 2 pork chops, and whatever looks good in the butchers window) and from the supermarket I get everything else. I just get bread and milk in a daily basis as needed. I decide on what to have that night when I get home from work at 2pm (I start very early in the morning), usually utilising anything that needs using up! On Sunday we had roast beef, so last night I bought a jar of curry sauce and made beef curry yesterday (which we are having tonight) and tomorrow we are having delicious pork spare ribs (which I've marinated tonight's they tast much better that way). If we have chicken on Sundays, then in Monday we might have chicken pie, or chicken goujons. We usually have fish in one form or another on Friday, and a takeaway on Saturday. So Wednesday and Thursday will be something like lasagne, sausage and mash, stir fry, casserole etc.
