Have you asked at the Post Office? Or try phoning 0845 774 0740. I would have thought anything non-perishable or or not containing alcohol would be safe, but check with the PO.
I would have thought the obvious are alcohol and pork products. Most countries don`t like you importing fruit or animal products so I expect UAE is the same. (obviously anything sexually explicit goes without saying too).
Certain drugs too - they get a bit twitchy if they find codeine (good job they`ve never found mine then).
If you can call into your local Post Office they can call it up on their computer. From memory (I work in a Post Office) it is nothing containing alcohol and nothing originating in Israel. Then there is a list of dangerous goods that can't be sent to anywhere (fireworks, firearms etc!).
this is the generally restricted list but if you go to the link for particular countries, none of the Arab states are listed http://www.royalmail.com/delivery/mail-advice/restricted-goods

Not tried the post office yet, wanted to package it up tonight to be sent first thing, but thought I'd try and check first. The only things I'm concerned about are some small sachets of face mask and sweets. These should be okay then?
Can`t see a problem with that. If some random packages are x rayed (and I don`t know if they are - suitcases are on arrival but that is when they are accompanied by the passenger) the face packs might show up as suspicious but they will simply have a look, see yhat they are OK and close the package again.
Don't try sending anything connected with christianity. I had to post some embroidered ( no crosses) religious stoles to an undercover priest there, and had to describe them as
" curtain tie-backs" .

Lol, definitely nothing religious, racist, offensive etc etc in there.

This is helpful though, cheers all! =]
definately no girly or nude magazines, also similar in video.
