Lewis Vs Gail In Corrie

Have only just taken to watching the soaps again (due to spending a hour or so each evening with my elderly mum). Just wanted to know what the deal is with Lewis and Gail. Why is he out to 'get her'. Is he a conman after her money (if she has any) or is it out of spite and, if so, why?
