Has anyone flown with Emirates and stayed in one of the hotels they put you up in if the connecting flight isn't for another 10 hours? I'm travelling by myself and have this stop over in Dubai before I head to NZ, just wondering if Emirates have transport and everything arranged to and from the hotel.

Thanks

don't know but I'm sure if you asked them they'd tell you. UK phone: 870-243 2222, according to their website http://www.emirates.com/uk/index.asp . I had an overnight stopover in Tokyo once (not with Emirates, obviously); the hotel was at the airport, so no transfers were involved, but I had to buy my own dinner (breakfast was included), and also, unexpectedly, had to pay for an exit visa, so you might want to inquire about that too.
I travelled with Emirates in June on way to Oz,stopped off in Dubai and the hotel was superb. As u would imagine with the rich arabs.

Just a wee add on.Dubai airport is superb for buying duty free.Practically give it away.

Emirates acquired a good reputation when they started out 20 years ago by providing a higher standard than then was the norm. This reputation is now not so richly deserved in every way although, as often happens, it still lives on. I have personally been disappointed when using them and my family had just the same sort of stop-over four years ago as you will have. The hotel was so disappointing that they decided to camp at the airport on the return leg - Emirates fought our complaint and kept saying it was impossible, they were Emirates after all. All duty free shops make huge profits, but some have lower overheads and that is true of Emirates. But, as always, you can do better in the local town than at the airport - again, myths abound.
