this little ten minute programme on channel 4 is often interesting, and does makes you think, however i wanted to see if Naomi or anyone watched last evenings contribution.
a chap was explaining how he believes Sharia Law is misunderstood here in Britain, that we only read or see the negative side to it.
he added that it should be law right across Britain, and indeed hopes around the world. I wondered if anyone watched it, if so what was your opinion of what he was saying.

Em, I think there are more than we realise who would welcome Sharia. Ironic really. They come here for a better life, but nevertheless want to turn their new home into a replica of their backward, third world, old home.

I’ve no doubt he’s fully aware – but he’s successful, he’s not gay, and he’s not a woman, so it’s easy for him to spout such evil drivel.

totally agree with your first paragraph, that is what i don't get, that some come here because they have left poverty and ideologies that don't fit well with their lives, yet set up home, and not just in Britain, and behave exactly the same as they did there. I am aware of the old argument, British doing the same, but they don't go to Spain, France say, to try and change the laws of the land, or indeed spout their religious doctrines.

did you see that the Christian woman has won her case over wearing her cross at work, why should that be a problem really, seeing as how Muslims in many cases are treated differently in respect of their religion. It's as though there is becoming one rule for one sect, and one rule or bend over backwards for another.

sorry to not get back before, that isn't good at all, what are they thinking, the hospital bods that is.

No idea - but it's utterly, utterly wrong to allow religious foibles to take precedence over hospital hygiene. I can’t even say I know any man who would be driven wild by the sight of a bare forearm, so I doubt imposing the rules across the board would endanger anyone!

i remember reading one journalists comments, who shall remain nameless, which was more or less the same thing, that by being covered so fully, one would expect the male population of Britain to be ravening beasts, ready to pounce at every opportunity, which of course is total nonsense.
I do find it disturbing that Christians are being pasted all over the place for daring to wear a cross, or not care for some practices they find difficult, not in accordance with their beliefs, whilst other religions happily get away with wearing what they like, behaving as they so please.

i am an atheist so care not for any religion, but i do care about fairness, and this is not fair, nor right.

could be, she is not a lone voice i am sure, and would love to see more women like her out on our streets when the men have their little demonstrations, telling us how we will have Sharia Law in Britain, and that one day the followers of Islam will rule the world. Then maybe things will start to seem a little better, at least for those women who still feel subjugated.
