Too Much Water Around Baby.

My daughter has been told she has too much water and the baby may need to induced and will have to have his body flushed when born. She does not understand what the doctor is talking about(she understands the words but does not understand what the condition is and the things that can happen). She has stomach pains all through her pregnancy and no one seems to know what they were and she has really had a bad time. She has a son who is 6 and there was no problems with the pregnancy.
We would like to know what is happening so we can explain it to her. As you can imagine we are worried about both of them.

How interesting - I too have never heard of this. How far along is your daughter?

It was always called hydramnios, but for reasons best known to the medical fraternity is called polyhydramnios.

Too much fluid in the amniotic sac....... around the baby.
The baby drinks the fluid and makes the fluid.....so any abnormality of this mechanism in the baby will cause hydramnios.

Now after saying that...more than 50%+ cases of hydramnios, no cause or abnormality is found in baby or mother.
