A6 Windows Opening
5 Answers
I have a 2009 A6 2.0 and came out to the garage this morning to find that all the windows were open about 6 inches. The car was locked. Has anyone a possible explanation for this phenomenon? All four closed on their buttons and remained closed when I relocked the car.

Audi have an emergency process bulit into the key fobs - if you hold down your fob for 5 or 10 seconds (not sure exact timing), the windows will automatically go down. Meant to be if you're stuck in an accident and the powers gone from the car or something like that.
I've heard of another make of car (forget which) where holding down the 'lock' button will cause any open windows to close, but continuing to hold the button down opens the windows a few inches. This, apparently, is so you can keep the interior of the parked car cooler on a hot day. Daft, I call it!
This model probably will open all the windows if the unlock button is held down (or key held in unlock position) and will all roll up again if the lock button is pressed (or the key held in the lock position). This option can be programmed on or off by the dealer BUT it might be best to check the carpets are not wet especially on the passenger side front, the box for the central locking control is in a recess under the carpet.
