Many years ago I did a similar thing to Mrs BM's worktop with a hot pan. She wasn't impressed. I don't believe it can ever be covered over - so you could make a feature of it. We had a blue marble effect worktop and I bought a real piece of similar marble and inset it into the worktop with a router as if it was always intended that hot pans could be rested there.
I rather depends on where the 'problem' is.
Pussy, I'd best not tell you what your name reminds me of! :o)
OG, unfortunately it is not laminate. We might have to accept that there's no other solution other than to replace the whole worktop. Unfortunately it's a very long piece. That'll teach me to be clumsy!
If you are going to do that anyway, and the worktop is marble or granite or some composite, is it worth trying to sand the top of the surface first ? Maybe the bleaching affect doesn't run too deeply.
You'll never get rid of it.
Disguise with something else let into surface (like a chopping plate)
Turning over will only expose screw holes and probably faded parts.
Black boot polish do light coats one at a time leave it on for an hour then gentle buff with a soft cloth its not permanent but can be re done every now and again it covers the stain a treat..
