Moon And Jupiter

JUPITER-MOON CONJUNCTION--TONIGHT! When the sun goes down tonight, step outside and look east. The Moon and Jupiter are shining through the twilight side by side. Most sky watchers will see the two bright bodies just a fraction of a degree apart. Observers in parts of South America will witness an even closer encounter--an occultation, in which the Moon passes directly in front of Jupiter. [

Wow, very clear sky here, and can see clearly.
Blimey, they are very close together, shining brightly.
Arent they normally this close together Wendilla.
Is this the first sighting?.

Thanks Wendi - its very clear out there and Jupiter is standing out very clearly just to the "west" of the moon as you look at it.

Didnt think for one minute that the sky was clear untill I looked up.
Not so clear down here at mo. Pleasantly surprised. Blooming freezing though.

Closest approach visible from the UK will be ~3am just before the Moon sets in the west. Depending on your local view of the western horison, the Moon might set earlier.
