Obama's Inaguration Speech

I'm watching the President's Speech .

A bit unfortunate that one of the girls should happen to have a big yawn , captured of course by the cameras .

Fox news will no doubt have a field day with that one .

I'm not american - however i'm pleased that he has been returned to the White House for a second term .

Are you of the same opinion ?

Oh , is he using an auto que - if he isn't then he is doing a brilliant job - no mistakes / hesitations so far

I am not either, American that is, but hope that his second term in office is better than the first, and that he doesn't call upon David Cameron to come to his aid in yet another military operation.

I'm pleased he is President for another term and I'm watching the TV only because OH is watching and its my day off. I can't help thinking that these speeches are wholly unmemorable, but well delivered.

In his first inauguration, they got the words wrong and Obama repeated the mistake. So they had to re-do it a few days later.

That's probably true - there aren't many speeches that are truly memorable .

The exception to that would probably be Martin Luther King or Winston Churchill's we will fight then on the beaches ....

Gromit is right, there is a private inauguration for the oath in the White House - that had to be yesterday as this formality is always completed on the 20th - being in the Constitution - and recognising the 100 days from the election for riding from the West to the East coast, so 2 private and 2 public inaugurations over his two terms.

I've always had a lot of time for Barry (I like to be informal with him), but he's made a couple of statements today that have raised my opinion of him higher than I ever expected.

A President cannot control world events (eg. Bush could not have predicted 9/11), but I live in hope that Barry's second term will be a peaceful one.

sp, it won't be, seeing as how US is still embroiled in Afghanistan, is still not economically sound, and that there are plenty of people who hate his health care plans.

Obama doesn't announce an upset stomach without using a Teleprompter. Recently, he gave an uncharteristically short speech to a 5th grade class and still he used a Teleprompter... He does read well, though...

It's so well known the late night Television Comics often reference its use:

I'm just glad its him and not Romney who failed to turn up for the inauguration the normal custom. Like Bush we'd now all be having a war on terror in North Africa and Cameron in tow.
