No real experience with Macs so might be obvious might not

Win 7 64bit with VMworkstation running Mac mountain Lion
All Mac software OS etc is updated etc. to latest versions

MS Office- Word on Mac, everything works perfectly

Mac Pages a Word equivalent, open new doc start typing and nothing shows, made sure text is black. Go to print preview and text shows, same if I open a template, nothing shows but everything is there in print preview .

iPhoto, all galleries and thumbnails show in all sorts of views, double click on thumbnail to view pic full window...nothing nada, just a tick thumbnail in upper left hand corner of window.

Have d/loaded a couple of photo viewer alternatives and they work just fine

iWeb, same, open a template and nothing shows just blank page outline, preview in browser and its all there.
Code a page from scratch, nothing on screen but ok in code view and fine in browser

Natural screen res is 1650x1080, have tried different screen res, nothing
Have allocated 6GB of the main machines 12GB ram

Apart from this strange problem Mountain Lion functions perfectly well within the limitations of a VM.

anybody any ideas on what could be the issue ?

Sounds as if the Graphics driver is having trouble interacting with the VMware Workstation system. Try switching on / off the 3D mode in the VMWare settings.

Could it be a Flash Player issue. Try installing the latest from Adobe, if not already done.

Do you have VMware Guest Tools for Mac OS X installed?
If not, I'm not sure if there is any directly available for VMware Workstation running a Mac OS X system but its worth checking with vmware.com.

There are some that you could try via http://isohunt.com/torrent_details/375589661/?tab=summary

Failing that you could consider using Oracle VirtualBox ( https://www.virtualbox.org ) instead of VMWare. I have OS X Lion running ok in VirtualBox. There is also an option in VirtualBox that allows for importing of VMWare virtual disk environments.

Also some good info here for installing OS X Lion in VirtualBox:
