Beautiful aircraft - loved watching it come into the station I was based at and on one ocassion actually guarded on an overnight stay. I was 19 at the time and it's beauty was not lost on me even then.
We lived in Oakham in 1965 -68 and my husband was based at Cottesmore in the RAF. The Vulcans used to come over our house when they were doing 'circuits and bumps' at least I think that was what they were called. They are such magnificent aircraft, and still make me have a surge of pride when I think about them.
Me too hellywelly - just at the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight does - the sound of those engines - makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end.
Excellent news. Let's hope it works out.
That is good news. Fingers crossed to 2014 too.
Never forget flying with my brother and hearing over the radio that we were in the way of the Vulcan!!! We had to climb up out if the way, saw her right below us. Just amazing.
I'd like to see it flying for many years to come. Back in the 1960's we used to see all the V force planes flying into and out of Finningley (now Robin Hood Airport) which at the time was their base virtually everyday.

Thanks for the info deggers, hope they can continue.
