Micro Sim Card: Anyone?

Just upgraded my phone and the sales rep said he would send a Micro SIM with the new phone. I've just had a glance via Google and am just wondering what the supposed benefits(if any) are of said card?
Furthermore, does that mean I still keep hold of my current SIM, should I need to use it in a non-Micro SIM phone in case of emergency use, repair etc?

The only advantage is that it will fit your new phone :-) You won't be able to use the old SIM as they will disable it when they activate the new one (assuming you're keeping the same number)

cradle sizes are different, so it wont fit
