Drink Driving In Eireland
9 Answers
The irish seems to have the right ideas all the time. Latest one, on radio 4 news this evening, a local council had a vote on changing the drink driving laws for people in rural areas. they want to issue them with a license to be able to drink more than the legal limit and still drive a vehicle, so they can go to the pubs and have a few pints and not get depressed by having to stay at home. only catch is, they have to PROMISE to drive SLOWLY home when they are drunk!!
Still, you can't drive fast if your on the footway trying to avoid lampposts and pedestrians, so bound to work. Its not april 1st is it??

The governing body at that time were way behind with their administration.
So in their wisdom they decided to issue a full licence to ... those that had held a provisional licence for two years or more..
My sister got her licence and soon after moved to London where she able to buy a car and drive it legaly.
She thought people in London were really friendly because they were always tooting and waving at her..!

In the small towns and outer villages they rarely check anyway. The chances of meeting another car or pedestrian is pretty slim.
