I recorded this programme as Iwanted to keep it for future viewing but
when I tried to finaliise it on Dvd-R or Dvd_RW it would not accept it
What have I done wrong or is there some sort of block on it

I am assuming you recorded it to your PC / Laptop, if not what device / how was it recorded?

If recorded to your PC / Laptop you could download, install and try using the following excellent free DVD recording package called DVD Flick.
