Feel sorry for the lady but a teeny tiny part of me thinks that she was incredibly daft to think this was anything other than a loathsome toad out for all he could milk from her.

But it's a salutary lesson, which so few heed, if it's too good to be true, it probably is.

I've dated much younger women thanks, never been fleeced yet- not everyone is an evil gold digger. My mother in law is in her 70's and her husband of some years now in his 30's. Nice, happy, stable relationship.
In this instance I think it's a pity that her whole life went down the way it did, but people are human and stupid, and yearn for their own individual fairy tales. When those don't happen, some of us cope better than others and some turn to drink, gambling, drugs, casual sex, shopping- whatever addiction helps them cope. This helps them temporarily but not those around them and problems escalate not diminish. This is what happened with her family.
You would hope that now her life is more stable and on track they would all try to reconcile but the children seem to think her house was their inheritance ' by right' which it isn't, it's hers to do with as she sees fit. I personally think she's a bit soft in the head, but she's not evil and her kids need to stop viewing her as such and having such a sense of entitlement.
