I'm STILL struggling, but determined to complete this one!
Inside tun, mule's going from Glasgow to Edinburgh. Not sure if it's eassEl or eassIl.
Now for the shape....................
I've removed letters from the first row (8)
4th (4)
5th (4)
6th (7)
7th (6)
8th (4)
and final row(9)
(as everybody else will have finished this crossword I thought it OK to say what I'd done)
But, that leaves me with 3 to go and I'm stuck!
Please can someone give me a hand!

Hi Ripper, unless I've got it wrong you don't need to take any letters out of rows 4 & 5.
My entry goes like this;
Row 1, 8
Row 6, 6
Row 7, 6
Row 8, 4
Row 9, 4
Row 10, 4
Row 11, 4
Row 12, 9

This adds up to the year of the event (19)45
