Dog Park

Do any places in the UK have dedicated areas for doggie parks like those in the US?

Ive never heard of any in the UK, im not sure I would want to see them here, that is mainly because where I live I have no or very few restrictions where I exercise our dogs. its fine as it is.

They would be useful in a city. The park I go to has half a dozen entrances,and half of them are very close to busy roads. Makes me wary of where in the park I let Sally off.

I dont know of any either, and it had crossed my mind a while ago to buy a piece of land and make it into a dog park, but I couldnt find anything suitable. The ones in the US are a great idea.

Is a doggie park simply a place where dogs run free but is surrounded by a fence? There's a small one in Fulham, near Olympia. Otherwise, over here, there are just areas where dogs are allowed off the lead. A big area for the purpose sounds a good idea.

Victoria Park, Widnes, Cheshire have a dedicated area for dogs where you can let them off the lead. It's fenced off and not very big. You can walk them in the rest of the park, but they have to be on leads. Been there for several years.

There's one not to far from me called Ralph's Wood, not sure how it works, but when Ralph died it was left specifically for dog owners to use, which I thought was a nice gesture!

We have an area called Decoy Common which was originally a field set aside for dog walking in an area of common land that is field and trees and although it is supposed to be just the one field most people walk right round the common with their dogs. It is a little way down a track off the road but is not actually fully fenced but fairly safe unless you have a dog that is likely to take off into the sunset. It actually has a sign saying 'dog walking area' and they provide poo bins. Sadly some people still don't clear up after their dogs.
