Brother and Sister-in-Law are over from USA and whenever we visit a restaurant, pub or coffee shop S-i-L disappears for about 10 minutes. I commented to Mrs McM and she laughed and said S-i-L has fetish/fear of public toilets and spends time lining the seat with multi-layers of loo paper to protect her bum.
Yes in USA they have seat liners to put on the loo seats, I could never get them to stay and then the automatic flush used to go so I'd have to reline the seat again.
I think it's quite normal for most of us to feel that we don't actually want to sit on a public toilet seat. If I have to, I do the same as your S-i-L.
I also have an aversion to lifting up a seat lid. If the lid is down, I use another cubicle.
I can understand. Some are awful and the toilet seat always seems to be loose! I often dont sit down on the seat. I squat over the loo instead, and use a bit of loo paper to flush the handle. Is she as bad in the USA or just here ?
Its not just ladies, I always lift and lower seat by pushing it up or down with my foot, never touch door handles in loos use sleeve of my coat or something, sounds bad I know, but makes sense to me!!
But barney then your sleeve will be germy, I always use a tissue to open the door and then throw it away, then I usually use hand foam on my hands again, yes OTT I know. I hate holding onto to bars or poles on the buses too, and never put my bag down on a loo floor, sling it round my neck as I hover, can be tricky!!
