Please Help, It's Urgent !!!!! (Prob Just For The Ladies!)

Hey!

I've just had a phone call out of the blue, FINALLY offering me to an interview for a Concession Supervisor for a Fashion retailer on Friday!!!

The initial excitement has passed and I am now in the process of panicking about what to wear and getting my head around the seriousness of what the interview will be like. I haven't had an interview at this level for a long time!

Could I have some suggestions about what I should wear to a job interview for a high street clothing store please Bearing in mind this is for a management position and the middle of winter. What would YOU wear?!!

Smart yet fashionable. You'll need to prove good knowledge of the fashion industry ( I wouldn't stand a chance!)

nip down to one of the shops and see what the staff wear now. Then dress just a little bit neater, since it's managerial.

Well it goes without saying you should be smart. I`d probably wear a dark suit (jacket and skirt) and add a bit of flair by wearing my pink suede boots. So something conservative but with a bit of colour or imagination.

I'd go for a classic look, perhaps a suit? But wrap up warm on top of it.

Smart, fashionable, good quality showing flair and attention to detail. More importantly have a very good knowledge of current trends and be passionate when talk talk ab out them. Research the company and ask pertinent questions about them to show you have a thorough knowledge of who they are and what they will want.

Always have a question ready for when they ask 'do you have any questions?' Think of something they may not cover, for example, 'what is the labour turnover in this store?'

Smart but comfortable (not stuffy) tailored feminine suit inkeeping with current fashions.

Accessorise well, jewellery (not too much), no OOT make up or hair but show effort, nicely done nails, hairdo and makeup.

I'd go for something that doesn't look 100% all new like you just picked it for interview rather than you dressing in that fashion all the time, make it look natural as well as smart.

Sorry, should have said this is for a new concession within Debenhams and so they are recruiting staff from scratch.

Unless very classic wear nothing older than last A/W.

Pay attention to your accessories but be careful not to over accesorise, allowing each piece it's own space.

Check buttons, hems, heels for scuffs etc and make sure your hair, make-up and nails are immaculate. This is very much a job about how you look as much as how much you know. Customers are going to see you long before they can judge your product knowledge and you will be a showcase for your ability.

I'd practice a slightly cheesy line, too. Something along the lines of ..... 'I think ahead. Trends come and go, but fashion is the heart of the business'

Jno - Ultimately I will be working for the concession holder but will have to obey Debenhams rules too I expect. I've been in this kind of situation before albeit a few years ago!

Just to let those of you know who asked, I had the interview today, wore a nice smart fitted suit from Next and a coral top under (Coral suits my skin tone!) Not as tough an interview as I'd thought it would be. They were VERY happy with me and the area manager said she would have offered me the managers role if I could have worked full time! Needless to say I will hear back about the supervisor's position in a couple of days! Will let you know what they decide :) Thanks again for all the help :)
