Combi Boiler And Electric Shower

Electric shower seems to go extremely hot then extremely cold before settling down, however, it is very unpredictable and I think a bit dangerous because you never know when it's going to happen.

Is this normal for an electric shower or do I need to call someone out to fix it? We have a combi boiler.

Is it an electric shower or one that gets its hot water from the combi?

Your combi boiler is gas I imagine. So your electric shower won't be attached to it. I don't see the link.

Ha haa - um, excuse my ignorance, it is an electric shower.

Possibly needs a service kit Ruth. Electric showers are quite stable. It shouldn't do that.
What's the make and model?

A Triton T80. My son has just said that it started when they had to turn off the water to sort the loo out, so could it just be the water pressure is too low, perhaps?

Ah, well, even an airlock would soon disappear under mains pressure.
Possibly a piece of dirt introduced from working on the loo.

Let me have a poke about ........... back in a few mins.

T80... most spares unavailable...... obsolete model. Even the service pack is obsolete.

Something has upset it. I think its time may have come :o(

Be a good idea to replace it now Ruth. Mira and Triton are my personal favourites. Their after-sales help is way above many of the other makes. Bristan too.

Further thoughts ......... what exactly did they do with the loo?
If your mains pressure is very low, and the loo is flushed as you jump in the shower, it is possible that there isn't enough pressure.

Apparently the valve in the top of the cistern in the loo broke. It is just that if anything goes wrong with the house, it is the plumbing and the house is only 4 years old. Had to have the boiler replaced 6 months ago!

I have a combi and an electric shower. But.....I have no tank my water is straight from the mains, so depending on the weather cold/hot it varies slightly temperature wise until it settles or someone turns another tap in the house. It never is as extreme as yours though, something needs adjusting.

Gran's right. That does happen with combis.

4 years old? With a Triton T80? Mmmm, last one in the shop?

Ok - many thanks for your answers. It's not a problem because we rent the house but the majority of the houses on our estate are having plumbing problems, hmmmmm!
