How Can We Make Money From Website?

I am running a small website for our village and would like to be able to raise some funds from it, for the village. I am a beginner at all this sort of thing and have been helped by a young friend to get it up and running. I feel if I ask him to do any more for me his eyes will go skyward!! Can anyone help. I am thinking along the lines of small local pubs, restaurants and businesses.

Unless you have anything to sell, why not try putting a few Google ads on it. They pay you whenever someone clicks on one (a bit like the adverts on this site).

Sorry to appear a bit dim, but this is all new stuff to me. How do I go about getting google to advertise.

No problem. Try putting adsense into Google to get started.
Google place adverts on your site which usually have something to do with your site content. I have them on a few of my websites and it pays for the running costs plus a bit of extra pocket money each month. They give you the code for the advert and then you can put it where you like on your site.
