Motorway gantries - I was right all along!

On Page 6 of The Sunday Times this week, there is a report that says the police are photographing up to 14 million motorists every day using cameras mounted inside motorway gantries. Some of you may re-call that I asked about this 2/3 years ago because I noticed early one morning that a single light kept flashing on the gantries as I approached them. I phoned the Highways Agency and was told it was just testing by engineers. What a laugh! I asked if there was any kind of surveilance equiment mounted in the gantries but was told, again, that the flashing lights were due to testing. But now we know. You are being watched all the way on your motorway journey. I mean, the size of those support columns are huge to be just for small bulbs aren't they? Check it out next time you approach one, especially on stretches of unlit motorway. Big Brother is watching you!

the programmes that come on television showing clips of fast motorway traffic, the clips are filmed by these cameras, they have been there a long time now..

They enable police to nick a load of inter-city thieves by tracking their movements.

maybe they monitor traffic jams? what is the purpose of watching joe shmoe drive up the motorway in his legal ford focus?
