I've seen some of the ealier postings and I agree that some of this compiler's cues are a bit weak. On the other hand, there's a couple that are too clever for me. If someone could explain the word play for the following I would be grateful: 18a: Raised question of broadcaster providing sanctuary. I think the answer is "HIDEOUT" but I do not understand the wordplay. Conversely, 24d: Fool passing over old recording in French, modestly priced. I have "NINEPENNY" which i think is "NINNY" for "fool" plus "EP" being old record and "EN" being "in French". But why "Ninepenny" rather than "twopenny" or any other number of pennies?
