Expanding on the answer by halfadaily, The New Avengers aired in the mid-70s whilst the 60s original is more correctly entitled The Avengers.

Laurie Johnson composed the more famous Avengers theme used in the Mrs Peel episodes onwards. He then composed the theme for The New Avengers shown in 1976. Both pieces of music were performed by the Laurie Johnson Orchestra. He later went on to compose the theme to The Professionals.
