Can anyone suggest a way to protect a new semi-glazed outside oak door from the dog, who has clawed the last one badly (he is far from being ill-treated, but always wants to be inside the house to snuggle up to people, and he's huge).
Would American-style 'screen doors' work?
Could I attach some kind of mesh frame?
I am running out of ideas.
Many thanks.
I've got a scrolly wrought iron-type metal security gate outside my back door. We have it so we can leave the back door open in the summer without the risk of anyone getting in. If you had one of them, about 6 ins away from the main door, that might help.
You could look at installing a kick plate... very easily done and adds a nice flare to the door. Here's an American site, but they should be available in the U.K. in various colors. Ours is brass...
Thank you all for your suggestions. We're now thinking of a toughened glass panel. Do you think that would work as long as it was sealed to stop rain coming in?
