I ordered a case of wine with instructions for the delivery company to leave at the side of the house, sheltered and out of public sight were I not at home.
Where did they leave it? By my front door, in full view, upside down because the bottom of the box had been standing in water and was no longer attached to the rest of the box. The bottom view of twelve bottles of wine an open invitation to anyone passing.
How many guesses do you need to come up with the name of the delivery company? City Link you say? Bang on.
Will mentioning it to Averys be worthwhile?

hello gness

i would kick up a stink with City-Link if i were you
Yes. Complain to Avery. They are the ones who had the contract with City Link to deliver the goods and if they don't know there are problems they will continue using them.

Hi Excel...don't think Dave is having much joy with his dealings with City-Link otherwise I would. And Dave has more patience than I do. He doesn't carry an axe in his handbag either. ;-)

I did wonder if I would have more joy with Avery hc.....and they may have more clout.
oh, right

don't just sit back though .... have a 'wine' at somebody responsible
It could have been worse.....I had a bottle of something special delivered. I wasn't home, so they tossed it over the back gate :-(

"Groan" Excel....:-)

Eccles...Late OH loved Pork Scratchings from a shop in Dorset. Daughter used to send him a little parcel of them now and again. One parcel was left on the front step.....no front garden....straight onto path. The old ladies from the home told me they saw it there. It was stolen. I would have loved to have seen the face of the thief when he/she found a packet of scratchings for their trouble.

Oh Fluff...good idea. Thank you.
My 15kg bag of dog food was delivered this week by the charming (not) City Link man. As he was so nice I put on a 'limp' and asked him to carry it into the garage for me. Luckily I couldn't hear what he was muttering under his breath.
i find a nice long complaint email with pics is more effective, then backed up with a phone call and i would complain to averys not citi link who are a waste of time and space
tufnells are another delivery firm that should ever be used. i once ordered a special fibre board 2" thick and 3'x2'. very carefully wrapped, wooden edging frame and cross beams, triwall cardboard, labels saying fragile, handle with care all over it. it arrived with boot marks all over packaging and a break across the middle as i needed it flat. useless for my purpose. had a heck of a job to get it replaced. cost to me nearly £250 + lot of phone calls, photographs and letters.

it's worth complaining gness. but good luck. xx
I collected my parcel from City Link this morning - a very pleasant female member of staff served me.

I have to say however that for their local management to refuse to speak to me to explain/apologise was pathetic and cowardly. I was very calm, quiet and polite (as presumably they could see from their CCTV), but they hid in their office and left a junior member of staff in a difficult position - not good at all.

I await a response from their 'Customer Satisfaction" team with interest (but without much hope) ...

The sender of my parcel is a small 'one-man-band', so won't have much clout with City Link - but I think Averys must be a big (and therefore valuable) customer ... lets hope they find an appropriate arse to kick.
my last asda .com delivery came and they had broken one of my bottles of wine luckily the 3 bottles of champagne were ok just damaged labels, the driver told me he would report all the bottles as damaged and i got a refund for the price of the wine and the champagne !!! best champagne id ever drunk !!!
