firstly imnosuperbrain thank you for your kind words of encouragement
i really enjoy the challenge that this quiz throws up i throw myself into it
till i'm all googled out usually around about the 250/260 answer mark
and find myself spending literally hours on a handfull of questions
when i reach the point where finding a single answer or two in a day seems
like a good days work and i can say to my self that i'm satisfied i've given it my best shot (although i know in my heart of hearts and from past experience
that up to 20 of these will be wrong) i start to ask for a bit of assistance
i post on a lot of different sites and forums actively contributing to discussions and banter on a wide range of topics right through the spectrum from football
to politics
in this crazy sometimes sad world that we live in i dont think it would be fair on my family to court publicity in such a manner that could lead to people
i come in contact with on the internet being able to work out my identity and through me my family members
i thoroughly enjoyed the quiz you set it must have been more worrying wondering wether you'd set it too hard or too easy than tackling one somebody else had set.

Answered as I thought you would, which is fair enough and no problem at all. As for setting the quiz, it has become a bitter/sweet experience. There are so many of you exremely clever and capable quizzers out there that it becomes impossible to set a quiz where all the questions only have one answer.Thus when the answers arrive, I have to check through and wonder why everybody s got a different answer to question x, y and z than I have.Then I have to research the answer and 9 times out of 10, it is a perfectly acceptable alternat answer. And so on.. but I must enjoy it, otherwise I would not be doing it.Then of course there are my poor mistakes (eg Missing out the words "and won" in NE 45 meaning there were 2 answers(Sessay made the final in 1976)) and my rank bad mistakes (Replacing a picture of Nabokov with Pasternak the day before the quiz came out and forgetting to alter my answer sheet).

Good to hear about your charitable contributions and the energy you have put into the Superbrain quiz. You probably realise that lots of people have been looking at your posts and that of "on the Road" and "stealing" your answers. Thank You. The quiz is really challenging but also incredibly frustrating. I notice that you have been contacted by the quiz compiler - imnosuperbrain. Do you not feel let down by the errors which end up with you wasting lots of time on incorrect questions -one question omitted altogether, two altered after the first week and others identified as poorly worded after the quiz ends with lots of quizzers submitting alternative answers. Why do we have so many errors after all the compiler has a whole year to set the quiz? Good luck.

The compiler is contacted at the end of October and told if the quiz is on or not, and alas is only human-like you quiztopher :))

I accepted that we are all human and we all make mistakes however I still believe that all those who venture to tackle the quiz need to be more confident with the vast majority of questions.

quiztopher i have no problem with people putting the answer that the goodpeople on here provide to good use as i dont consider them my personal property
i realise that if everybody asked for help with the same questions people would soon get sick of us clogging up this site but i do think "ontheroad "in particular seems all take and no give eager to accept any help he can get but not very helpfull to others but maybe he thinks he's in with a chance of winning
and doesn't want to aid his rivals.
while i agree that its frustrating when you've spend hours looking for an answer only to find the goal posts have been moved i think you've just got to accept along with the otherpoints that you bring up its part of the torture that we put our selves through year after year doing this quiz i've known it be presented a lot worse.
at least imnosuperbrain has said he's found examples where multi-answer fit
many a year one answer appeared and as in most quizes the quizmasters answer rules.
as dr pop says he's only human and i thought he set a good quiz that wasn't actually as difficult as some years have been when it would have taxed the resourses of bletchley park to crack and at least he held his hand up on here
about his mistakes i think what ever he got paid he would think twice about agreeing to doing it again its not an easy task

Thanks for remembering sportsnut. I was very curious to a lot of the answers and looked them up on Saturday.
Phoned MrP to see if he could get it by me singing 'Nice one Cyril,nice one son' and of course he knew who it was then!
I must say that was a very tough quiz but very interesting to see the answers. Good luck to you in the future.

no problem miss primm i dont think it was actually me who asked the question but i remember you trying to help and getting your husband involved and somebody saying they would inform you when the answer was published isaw no posts doing that and rightly or wrongly decided thought that yourself and others who had tried to help deserved to see the answers that you'd help seek
