Haven't been on the computer for over a week, had a horrible week last week, just getting back to normal. Got up last wednesday, let the dogs out while I had breakfast, got them back in , went to work. OH was laid off and made the most of it with a lie in, had a frantic phone call from him about half 11, he had got up and found one of our spaniels lying on the floor, tongue hanging out, mess everywhere, he had, had a stroke. By the time I got back, OH had cleaned up and had him lying on a pile of towels on the couch. The movement and feeling in his front legs came back fairly quickly, and he was drinking normally, but his back legs were worrying us , so took him to the vets, expecting her to perhaps give him a sedative and let him come back to normal in his own time. Vet said his back legs were completley paralysed, and he had suffered internal bleeding and had to be put down. We have had two old dogs in the past who have had strokes and both recovered perfectly and lived for many more years, so this was a complete shock.
Our two spaniels have never been apart, and when we came home without him, we were upset, and our other dog is still looking for him and whining a week on. So sad, X

Me and OH were both devastated, quite a few tears, Kids ( all grown up ) rang or called around in tears, second youngest grandson (5) gave me a kiss and hug, and said, Naini, my rabbit died and I cried, but I'm all alright now..... in other words, dont worry, you'll get over it. Out of the mouths of babes . X
there is a place called DoggyHeaven (OH tells me to grow up when I say this, but it's true, TRUE I tell thee!)He runs around off the lead, chases after rabbits,
and gets a new, meaty bone everyday :D

Sounds wonderful Always, Its a lovely thought isn't it. X
Sparkles, I have a very, very old cockatiel, he's our last living cockatiel from our rescue days. He's in a big indoor aviary, all on his own, in our lounge as I haven't the heart to put him in the outside aviary.

Since we moved to a small bungalow, his indoor aviary has become a bit of a problem, space-wise, and I mentioned to my OH that when the little fella does eventually fall off his perch, we'll have loads of room in the lounge, and we'll smarten it up, get a new carpet and a bigger telly.

Husband replied, "Oooh, can we kill him now?".

(He was only joking, honestly!).

Hard on the outside Mrs C, but I bet he'll have a tear in his eye when he does go.
Or like my OH when he first watched Ghost years ago, when it finished he said " bl**dy stupid film that " then dashed into the kitchen to wipe his eyes. Hard on the outside, soft inside. X
Yes, I'm sure he will. He's such a softy really. There was a time we had about 100 birds (rescues) and to see him with them, caring for them - it was so lovely.

I love peeps who are kind to animals.
that is very sad sparkles. so sorry to hear that. (((xxx)))
I know it's too late now Sparkle, but I find that if I have two pets together and one dies, I let the remaining one see the dead pet and have a sniff and then it will know it has passed on and won't be looking for it. This will help it come to terms with the loss.

Very sorry you have lost your beloved pet x
Excellent advice there^^^.
