Ssri Withdrawal
5 Answers
Hi, I was switched from citalopram to mitarzapine (15mg daily) last week to help better with sleep etc...
I queried at the time whether I would get ssri withdrawal symptoms and my GP said to wait until next day (had already had citalopram first thing) and take the first dose of the new meds before bed the next day and I should be fine.
I am getting what feel like ssri withdrawal symptoms, feeling like my head is shorting out, light shock like feelings if that makes sense but not sure if its coming off the citalopram (20mg daily) or related to the new drugs if anyone knows which is more likely? Also, if the former, how long it might take to sod off.
I do feel much more chilled out though and had some of the best sleep I have had in a long long time :)

I was shaking and very agitated - it is now a bit of a blur but I was freaking out at the time.
I hope that you get it to settle down - being chilled is something I haven't been for decades.

The sleep is great! It does feel like the ssri withdrawal and getting worse, hope it buggers off soon.
I was the more cautious one Wolf :) I worried this would happen.
I have the vivid dreams anyway with pregabalin though at least I get what feels like much better sleep with this which is great.
Have a new toy to distract myself with later though, got my new "EyeBag" through the post, like a microwavable eye mask to help unblock my eye glands, should be so much easier than a wet flannel!
I really need more excitement in my life! :)

Hi, my hubby was swapped from citalopram to mirtazipine and he had lots of problems, not sure if it was withdrawal or the new drug but it took weeks to get better, I also took citalopram and did slow withdrawal and still had alot of side effects, especially hallucinations at night x
Good luck and I hope they make you feel better!
