Can't see the reasoning Dannyk13 although I do not doubt GOLF could be correct
I thought -

Golf (sport) - G(ame) originally, as broadcast on radio (NATO alphabet - Alpha, Bravo...Golf, Hotel...)
Question Author
Just got it. Nato alphabet for the letter "G" i.e. Foxtrot, Golf, Hotel etc. To think I have to use the phonetic alphabet in my job and missed that!!!!
