Somewhere in the Bible, I think it is in the New Testament, there is a mention of someone chastising another for greeting him in the street. Can anyone point me to the chapter and verse please?

The closest that I can find to this - Luke chapter 10, verse 4

Mosaic, please explain "Chavs"?
Jonathon, I'm not sure. How it came about was as follows. An old teacher of mine told me recently that whilst walking to school one morning in the 1950's he past our Headmaster and said "good morning" to him without receiving a reply. A little later in assembly the Headmaster quoted a passage from the Bible that made it plain that to greet someone in the street was not the done thing. All very odd I must agree but I've always wondered what the quotation was and hence my question. It's only taken me over fifty years to enquire here on the AB. Your quote doesn't quite fit the circumstances but thank you in any case. Do you know what Mosaic meant by "Chavs"? regards, Vimto.

To answer your second point Jonathan. Knowing our head, it could only have been the King James version.
